You can find restored/refurbished z50s everywhere but remember, they are only original once. The only real 'defect' which i just noticed today was a crack in the headlight glass. I cannot find an imperfection in the seat and it still has its original tool kit safely strapped beneath. The gas tank is beautiful inside and out with a few small chips and one small dent on the top towards the front, and the inside is like brand new. The seat and the gas tank really tell the story of this special little bike. The lights and switches all work as they should. It starts in a kick or two, runs and rides as good as it looks and doesn't burn or leak a drop of anything. The only parts on the bike that are not original are the tires which are new, the kickstand spring, and the throttle cable which was changed many years back. George owned and cared for this z50 for over 40 years, and it has never been offered for public sale. Manufactured 12/70, it was purchased by George Deeb in the summer of 1971. A sticker denoting a four-up shift pattern is visible on the left-side engine case cover.Ī spark plug tool that mounts to the frame under the rear bodywork is included in the sale, as is a removed sticker from Lemond’s Yamaha & Honda of Fairfield, Illinois. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a four-speed transmission with an automatic clutch and an enclosed drive chain. The seller notes that the engine smokes when started. Work performed in preparation for the sale is said to have included fitting an aftermarket carburetor, changing the oil, and replacing the air filter, spark plug, and fuel lines. The 72cc four-stroke single features a pull-starter and refinished case covers as well as a repainted exhaust system that exits beneath the rear bodywork. No instrumentation is present, and total mileage is unknown. The chrome handlebar is equipped with replacement handgrips in addition to a brake lever on the left and a run switch and thumb throttle on the right. The ATC 70 does not feature a suspension. Braking is from a single drum on the rear axle. Steel 7″ wheels were refinished in silver and mounted with replacement Boss Racing knobby tires under current ownership. Scratches in the fenders are noted by the seller, and photos show scuffs on the chrome grab bar. The frame was repainted and the blue solo seat was reupholstered under current ownership. The fenders and the replacement plastic fuel tank are finished in red and accented by replacement blue and white decals. This ATC 70 is now offered at no reserve in Illinois for off-road use only with a spark plug tool and a bill of sale. Power is provided by a 72cc four-stroke single paired with a four-speed semi-automatic transmission, and equipment includes an enclosed drive chain, a pull-starter, a chrome grab bar, and a chrome handlebar with a thumb throttle. Subsequent work is said to have included reupholstering the blue solo seat, installing an aftermarket carburetor, replacing the fuel tank, tires, and decals, and repainting the frame, exhaust, engine case covers, and 7″ wheels. This 1985 Honda ATC 70 was reportedly first sold by Lemond’s Yamaha & Honda of Fairfield, Illinois, and it was acquired by the seller in 2019.
